A contemporary art collection set in a Cistercian abbey.
The Abbey of Beaulieu-en-Rouergue was founded in the 12th century and was extended in the 17th and 18th century. It was
partly demolished after the Revolution but was fortunately saved and restored in the 1960s. The 13th century church, chapter
house and cellar form an excellent example of Cistercian architecture.
The monument will be closed until spring 2021.
The Centre des monuments nationaux is undertaking a restoration and refurbishment programme for the Abbey. This will enable
the presentation of a rich collection of modern art, the creation of an exhibition devoted to the monument’s ancient history, the reorganisation of exhibition spaces and the enhancement
of the gardens.
